Cree Tamarack Twig Goose by Charlie Small

Created by Cree artisan Charlie Small, originally of the James Bay region, these birds are made of twigs of the tamarack – a northern swamp tree. They are styled after the decoys traditionally used by Cree hunters. When seen against the spring snow, the ‘eye’ mimics the white cheek patch of the Canada Goose, enticing flying geese to land and join them. The wood is fragrant and can be refreshed indefinitely by soaking the decoy in hot water. Choose from among 3 sizes:

7″ Tall/17.5 cm
10″ Tall/25 cm
